Your email subscribers are one of the most valuable assets your business has. It pays to be good to them. We say that a lot, but what are some concrete ways to reward your subscribers for their time and attention? Here are a few ideas on how to do exactly that.

1) Add content to your email updates that’s not available anywhere else.

This is one of the best ways to encourage people to sign up for your email newsletter. World-class marketers like Chris Brogan and Marie Forleo use it on their websites and everywhere else in their marketing.

Chris refers to the exclusive content in his emails as his “best work”.

1) Are you easy to copy?

If your idea depends on massive scale (especially if it’s digital), what’s keeping somebody from stealing it and scaling it faster than you? Do you own a patent? Do you have the resources and financing to fend off the attack? If not, this is a BIG red flag.

Being bought — a good end game. Being copied by a tech giant and crushed? Not a good thing. How are you going to sustain your idea?

Can you patent yo…

There are no networks, no advertisers, and no newbies allowed. Making the cut to get an invite is a goal for all Affiliate Summit attendees. Have you ever wondered what gadgets I bring with me when traveling to a show like Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas? This video will tell you.

During our drive from Orange County to Las Vegas for #ASW16, I did a series of Driving with John Chow videos. One of them shows the contents of my laptop bag. The bag is the Everyday Messenger by Peak Designs. It’s one of the best laptop/camera bags I’ve ever used. It easily holds my Macbook Pro, Sony A7R II, three lens, GoPro, and every other piece of hardware I used to cover the show.

The Powerball Lottery Is A Bad Pipe-Dream8227653273_012e09fd59

It’s Wednesday January 13, 2016 and here in the United States the Powerball frenzy is reaching its peak. What’s interesting is that it only reaches this level of mass hysteria when the Powerball grand prize reaches record levels as it has today: $1.3 billion dollars and growing.

There are some that call the Powerball lottery a national disgrace because it exploits despair and offers false hope for those who feel that a game of chance is the only way to become wealthy in this country.

The problem is people who spend the highest percentage of their income on lottery tickets are the same people who can least afford to gamble their money away. Most are a mere $500 medical bill or car repai…

3 ways marketers can bring CES into the real world

As seen on: http://www.epsilon.com/a-brand-new-view/region/us/3-ways-marketers-can-bring-ces-into-the-real-world/

Last week I had the opportunity to attend CES 2016 where I toured the show floor to get an understanding of the latest innovations in virtual reality, mixed reality, 3D-everything, artificial intelligence, the robotic smart home and more.  But for digital marketers what do the latest trends and innovations at CES really mean for your business?

Following CES I had the opportunity to sit down with Terry Brock to discuss what I saw at CES and what it means for digital marketing in the year ahead.  With the overwhelming amount of digital marketing technology available, Terry asked me to bring CES to the real world and discuss what’s working for digital marketers and what marketers should focus on this year.

The reality is that most marketers don’t have the luxury to incorporate the latest and greatest innovations, like virtual reality experiences, into their marketing plan. Still, one key theme that stood out through the products on display at CES was the increasing …

When it comes to incentives for email sign up forms, ebooks are the go-to bait. They provide a great way to educate customers, and people love valuable freebies.

But if you’re not an experienced writer or don’t have an archive of blog posts to repurpose, the thought of writing 15 pages single-spaced as a means to grow your email list might leave you feeling a little queasy.

Fortunately, there are other content incentives you can give away to your email subscribers that won’t give you palpitations.

Just take a look at Henneke Duistermaat, a professional writer and freelancer who offers an educational email course to new subscribers who sign up to her email list:
