Statuses that will get likes on Facebook are very important.

What is a status update? It is just a post that you make that can include a photo or even a video. It is the basic form of communication on Facebook.

So what are the statuses that will get likes?

Here are some suggestions.

Questions can be a way to get people interested in what you have to say – and should turn into likes if they genuinely like you and your content.

Engagement is the key to likes. So any status that gets users interested in commenting and sharing will be more successful.

Polls are another good way to build engagement. Think of it as a more formal way of asking a question.

Apps can be useful to offer. And most apps are set up so that anyone has to like your page to view.

Other statuses that will be likes are giveaways. These are always popular and can also be “friend-gated”

Ask for it. Don’t be shy.

Of course there are other statuses that will get likes but the most important part is to test different things out to see what works for your audience.

Or maybe you have set up a new Facebook page. For your business. Or for your own personal branding. What is your first post?

And you could have just created a new Facebook group to engage with your friends, fans, or others. What is your first post?

The first post of course isn’t too hard to write. It is just an introduction. But think further.

You want to have the best chance to create a great first impression. Now is your chance. Put some thought into it. And include a welcoming photo. I recommend a personal photo – even with a business page if appropriate. People want to be talking to people.

And in your first Facebook post include a welcoming, inviting message. With a clear reason why you have set up the account.

While this isn’t very difficult, this first impression can be the most important one you make.
