Morning Routine

Blue alarm clock (1)

I learn something new every day. But today I heard something that will actually make a difference in my business. And in my life.

Morning Routine

I was listening to an audio recording from Terry Gremaux this morning. If you don’t following him, I recommend that your start. You can find him at The Hash Tag Hunter.

What did Terry talk about that impacted me today? He gave me a blueprint for starting each day. Three simple, yet powerful, activities right at the beginning of my day.

His advice is to ask yourself three questions:

  1. What can I do today that excites me?
  2. What am I grateful for today?
  3. What am I committed to doing today?

So now the ball is in my court. What can I do with this blueprint?

  1. What excites me?

Is there anything better to start out your day than to remind yourself what gets you excited? What drives you to get out of bed and start the day? And even with a smile on your face.

For me there are a few different things that come to mind:

    a)  Building my own team of people that I like to be around and that think like me
    b)  Creating my own life the way I want it – not based on anyone else’s expectations
    c)  Putting $1,500 in the bank each day.  This is sort of an arbitrary number but when I dropped by Wells Fargo the other day and did that, it hit me what an incredible feeling it would be to do that every single day. Even on the weekends.
    d)  Learning something new that can make me happier, wiser, and more successful
    e)  Working with top people in my industry – because my success will give me that access
    f)  Getting the approval of people I know, like, and admire

  2. What am I grateful for?

I am lucky. Truly lucky. For the life I get to lead. Does that mean that everything is perfect everyday? Of course not. But there are several things I am grateful for, such as:

    a)  I am grateful that have clear and realistic vision for my life and every opportunity to make it happen
    b)  I am grateful that I am adding team members to my life that I like to be around
    c)  I am grateful that I work in a tremendous industry with a company that really can impact people’s lives
    d)  I am grateful for my health and being loved

The list goes on but you get the idea.

  3. What do I commit to do everyday?

This is both the easy and hard part. It is good to have a short list and it is sometimes hard to make it happen. But if things were easy everyone would be doing it, right?

I am a very strong believer in the Compound Effect, where by taking small incremental steps on a consistent basis, great achievements can be made. But the execution is not as well done as I would like. But this new morning routine should help that out.

For my business I commit to:

    a)  Putting out a piece of content – written or video – every day
    b)  Post on social media every day
    c)  Reach out to 20 people on social media that I have never met online before
    d)  Reach out to 5 people that I have been in contact before to check in and continue the engagement
    e)  Make two presentations every day for my business opportunity
    f)  Let one person that I admire, respect, or who has taught me something that I appreciate them and their work
    g)  Striving to be an ever-quicker implementer of new ideas

Now this is not my typical blog post. But it isn’t supposed to be. Because, you see, this one is more for me than anyone else. If I get up every morning and re-read this list I will know how to start the day. And that action, done on a consistent basis, will lead to great things. I know it will.

Thanks Terry for the direction.
